IDOLiSH7 "Road To Infinity" Pamphlet Interviews!

Riku Nanase | Kensho Ono

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: Finally... I'm really happy that this day has finally come! Ever since the game started, I've held on to the feeling that I definitely want to sing all of these wonderful songs live. I've said it over and over, but I'm really happy! My dream is finally coming true. It's also going to be the first time I hear TRIGGER and Re:vale sing live, so I'm looking forward to it!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: My love for the songs! I listen to "IDOLiSH7" songs on a regular basis, but in order to properly perform them live, I'm listening with more and more love. Also, to make sure I'm able to sing the best I can, I'm building up my stamina!! To be honest, the venue is so huge that I'm pretty nervous about it (lol). But it'll definitely be tons of fun, so I'm sure the shows will pass in the blink of an eye!!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: I want to do a nationwide tour!! Just like Riku and the rest of i7, I want to take pictures with the landmarks of the places we go. I think it would also be nice if we could do a tour overseas~ (lol). Also, I want to do a spinoff program similar to "An ID♡LiSH Night With You!". Not just in Tokyo, but I want to go to a lot of places and meet all of the fans cheering us on!

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: I'm grateful just to be holding our first live, but it's thanks to all of you cheering us on that we're able to perform in a venue this huge. Truly, thank you all so much! "IDOLiSH7" has infinite possibilities. Let's make this the best live show it can be and have the best time together! Let's have tons of fun~!!!

Iori Izumi | Toshiki Masuda

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: I'm both happy and nervous to be holding our first live show in such a large venue. While I know how powerful "IDOLiSH7" is as a series, instead of becoming prideful or complacent, I'd like to face everything head on.

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: Most of the performances focus on the seven of us. Because of that, I want to try approaching things like Iori as much as possible, and take on the challenge of conducting myself like an assistant. I'll show you that I can play the role of the "so-called perfect idol." (1)

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: Now that the TV anime has finished airing and I have faith that our live will be a success, I'm hoping for a sequel to the anime, or various other projects that will keep i7 moving forward.

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: I don't know if I'll be able to meet all of your expectations. As a rookie idol, I'll give my all to entertain you to the fullest. If possible, I'd like you to enjoy the overwhelming presence of our center, Kensho Ono, as Riku Nanase.

Yamato Nikaido | Yusuke Shirai

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1:
Having not only IDOLiSH7, but also TRIGGER and Re:vale all come together makes me incredibly happy! And holding our first live over two days at the MetLife Dome is even more incredible. I've never stood on the stage of the Dome before, so ever since the live was announced, I've been looking forward to what the view and atmosphere will be like. ( ´∀`) I think it would be great if we could give a performance that won't lose to the 2D IDOLiSH7!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: I guess that would be... going on a diet (lol). As of the time I'm writing this comment, I haven't started yet, but in order to come even a little closer to being like Yamato, I need to slim down... It's unlikely, but I was also thinking about the "what if" scenario that I'm put in an outfit that shows a lot of skin (like the Mongen outfits), lol. (2) Also, I've heard that the MetLife Dome can be brutally hot in the summer, so looking at it from a stamina perspective, it's good to lose weight. ( ´∀`)

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: Of course, I'd love to do live shows in more rural areas, but I also think a location shoot would be tons of fun. ( ´∀`) It would be nice to go somewhere like a camp~! We could each bring something we want to do, and just like "An ID♡LiSH Night With You!", I think it might be fun to do things like an IRL domino stacking challenge and seeing if we can cook!! With these members, no matter what we do, I'm sure we'll have a good time. (^-^)

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: First of all, thanks so much for coming to the 1st live!! I've sung at events before, but none of them can compare to singing in front of an audience this huge, so I want you all to express your love and passion with all your might!! Because I'm going to do everything in my power to do the same o^-')b! Let's have a super intense, passionate live!! I'll keep doing my best from here on, too! ## (3)

Mitsuki Izumi | Tsubasa Yonaga

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: It's finally here~! I'm really happy & super excited!!!! And at the same time, I'm seriously nervous (strained laugh). We're holding our first live with all 12 of us in such a huge venue! It still feels like this can't actually be happening. I want to hurry and see the faces of all of you guys who love i7!!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: The first thing I'm keeping in mind is that I want everyone who comes to the show to have a great time and think "I'm glad I came to this live~!". So with performing, singing… and… dan…cing… I'll do my very best! Also, I want to seem like Mitsuki as much as I can!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: I want to do an IRL "An ID♡LiSH Night With You!" regular program! Also, I want to do a nationwide tour and go overseas and meet all of you!!!! And if it's possible, maybe… a musical or something?

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: Thank you so much for coming to "IDOLiSH7"s 1st live, Road To Infinity. It's thanks to all of your support that we've been able to come this far. I'm sure IDOLiSH7, TRIGGER, and Re:vale are delighted. I'm incredibly happy too. Please enjoy the show to the very end. Let's make this an unforgettable live!

And finally: Guys, let's all have fun together! You're not gonna regret this, so make sure to cheer us on as loud as you can! -by Mitsuki

Tamaki Yotsuba | KENN

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: We started with recording the lines for the game, then the songs, then ADR, then live broadcasts, and then singing at events. (4) This time, the 12 of us are finally holding our long-awaited live, and I'm extremely excited! While preparing for the live at the venue, my excitement kept growing as I talked to the staff and cast, and I gradually came to the realization that "Ahh, this is actually happening!" I really want to hurry and enjoy the live with all of you!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: The day of the show will definitely be extremely hot, so in addition to practice, I want to do some stamina training. That, and since Tamaki-kun's dancing stands out above the rest, I'm doing my best in order to be a little more like him. Also, to make sure everything goes smoothly on stage when I'm performing with the cast, I want to make eye contact with everyone as much as I can. I really like those moments!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: Since I want to sing for all of the people cheering us on in various places, if we got permission, I'd want to try doing a surprise live in one of those trucks that travels around to different locations. Like the side of the truck would suddenly sliiiide open, and bam, the 12 of us would be there singing!! After it was over, the truck would close and we'd drive to the next place. And then the side of the truck would suddenly sliiiide open again, and bam, we'd have another live!! (5) (6)

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: Thanks for always supporting "IDOLiSH7," and welcome to the i7 live!! I'm seriously grateful!! I think you'll be able to thoroughly appreciate the unique charms of IDOLiSH7, TRIGGER, and Re:vale, so let's get excited together and make this an unforgettable time!

Sogo Osaka | Atsushi Abe

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: I've always thought it would be wonderful to do a live with the cast of i7 someday. I'm happy that my wish has finally come true. With all of us working together toward one goal, it feels like we have a connection with the idols, and it's really fun!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: I'll be facing various personal challenges this time. There are many things I'll be doing for the first time, so I'll do my very best! Please watch over me warmly (lol). (7)

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: Since this is the 1st live, there has to be a 2nd, right? Of course, I'm only saying so of my own accord and letting my imagination run wild, but it would be nice if we could perform in a lot of different places!

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: At long last, this day has finally come! I'll sing to the very best of my ability, so I hope that all of you managers enjoy yourselves. (8)

Nagi Rokuya | Takuya Eguchi

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: Of course, I'm very happy. However, when it was announced that we'd be performing our 1st live in such a huge venue, I knew that it wouldn't be easy. It's our 1st live and our first time doing all of this, so I'm going to brace myself for everything to come!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: Listening to the songs a lot (lol). It's the first time we've sung any of these songs in front of anyone, so I need to make sure I listen diligently until I know them all well. I listen to the songs regularly as it is, but to tell you the truth, I usually sing the whole thing instead of only my part (lol). Oh no~~~~!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: I want to do a 17 hour "try not to laugh" challenge... (lol). I think a variety show would be fun! Or some kind of special program! What do you think? (9)

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: First of all, thank you so much for coming to the 1st live! It's thanks to all of you cheering us on that we're able to pull off the miracle of performing at a venue this size. First, let's share this joy together and reflect on this miraculous moment. And then from here, we'll have another fresh start. I'll do my best from here on out, too!

Gaku Yaotome | Wataru Hatano

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: Numbers have a lot of different meanings in "IDOLiSH7," so having all of the main members gather together on days as wonderful as 7/7 and 7/8 makes me really happy! It's all thanks to everyone who loves this series.

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: As of the time I'm writing this, I haven't started any individual stamina training or anything yet. But I think this live will show me a sight I've never seen before, so in order to not get overwhelmed, I need to train my mind too!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: During a group performance, I want to try doing a collab with the animated idols! But first, I want to raise my spirits for this two day live! (10)

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: It's thanks to all of you supporting us that we're able to hold our first live in such an incredible place. In order to give back to this series and its characters, I'll give it my all to perform as Gaku Yaotome! Let's have fun together!

Tenn Kujo | Soma Saito

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: The fact that we're able to perform our first live in such an incredible place makes me happy from the bottom of my heart. "IDOLiSH7" started as a mobile game, but it's grown into a series that so many people love deeply, and that makes me happier than anything. On the other hand, I'm also nervous to be performing in a massive venue right off the bat… (lol). First and foremost, I'm going to enjoy standing on the stage, and I hope to share that moment with everyone. I'm really looking forward to hearing not only TRIGGER's, but everyone's songs live!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: This is the first time we'll sing live in front of everyone as TRIGGER, so most importantly, I'm striving to give a performance that makes everyone watching feel like the real TRIGGER is right before their eyes. Although we only play their voices, I want to do more than just sing live, so in order to make these days as exciting as they can be, I'll put my whole spirit into these performances. I also need to do proper stamina training!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: I've already experienced a lot of things related to i7, but I think it might be interesting to try making a music video. If that happened, I'd definitely want to do a location shoot across Europe (lol). That, and I want to see Ryuu fishing. A location shoot where we go fishing, roast the fish by the riverside, and then eat them! And it would also be fun to cover each of our songs! Of course, I'd also like to record new material for the game as well.

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: First of all, thank you so much for supporting "IDOLiSH7" up until now. I'm extremely happy to be holding our first live like this. It's the first time we'll be singing live as TRIGGER, so in order to put on a performance that will satisfy everyone, I'll face the challenge and give it everything I have. I'll be happy if you're able to have fun during the time we share. Please enjoy these incredible two days to your heart's content. I'll do my very best!

A1: There's no greater happiness than this. It really feels like a dream. I can hardly wait for the 12 of us to take the stage together!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: Personally, it has to be dancing. TRIGGER's performances are "top class in both singing and dancing," so… In any case, I'll do my very best! Look forward to it!

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: It's got to be a tour! I want to go and see all of your smiling faces!! We could have a different set list and outfits for each venue, and a variety segment sounds like it would be exciting!

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: Thanks so much for coming to our 1st live! It's all thanks to your support that we've made it here. We usually only come closer to being our characters through recording in the studio, but today, we're going to borrow some of their power and take the stage. Let's make the greatest memories of this summer together!

Momo | Soichiro Hoshi

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: I keep thinking "at last, we're finally doing it~!" Being able to put on a real live makes me really happy. And even more amazingly, it's with all 12 of us! I wonder what kind of show it'll be… I imagine that it's going to be tough to pull off (lol). I'm sure the crowd's enthusiasm and sense of unity is going to be incredible… It'll be an extraordinary festival! I'm really looking forward to it!!

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: I'm hoping to build up my stamina~. I haven't been running at all lately, so I'm hoping going for runs will also slim me down! (lol) And I can memorize our song lyrics while I'm running, too~.

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: I want Re:vale to have more songs, and even release an album~. It would make me happy if we got to do solo songs too. And if we could perform them at a live show, I think it would be really nice.

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: Thank you for always supporting i7! I'm seriously grateful that we're able to make this live show a reality! Please come and have as much fun as you possibly can. In order to make you love i7 more and more, Momo-chan and I will do our very best, so I hope you'll give us your everlasting support~~~!!

Yuki | Shinnosuke Tachibana

Q1: This time, we'll be holding IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road To Infinity." It's the first time all 12 of you will be performing live together, so please tell us your thoughts.

A1: Because our 1st live is at the Dome, I was a little taken aback, like "it's such a big venue for our first show~", but it's reassuring that all 12 of us are able to come together for this. I think it would be great if we could show off many different sides of ourselves to the audience, like each team's good points and the unity between the 12 of us.

Q2: Please tell us the things you've worked on or kept in mind while preparing for the live show.

A2: We're the oldest group (lol), so since it would be bad if we couldn't move our bodies like everyone else during the show, I've been building my stamina by jogging and weight training. I want to show you all my cool side, but… I don't wanna get injured, you know?! (lol) So I'll make sure I do plenty of stretches on the day of the live! (11)

Q3: This time, we're holding a live show for 2 days. Please tell us a challenge you'd like to face with IDOLiSH7 in the future.

A3: Since all of us singers are gathered together, I think a tour would be fun~. It might be nice to visit smaller venues too, and put on shows packed with tons of interesting visual elements~. ♪

Q4: Finally, please give a message to the fans coming to see IDOLiSH7's 1st live, "Road to Infinity."

A4: Thank you for coming to our 1st live!! The 12 of us will put on the greatest show, so please enjoy it from the bottom of your hearts. ☆ I hope we can do another live with you sometime!! ♪ Please continue supporting us from here on out!!!

TL notes
:

- I originally posted these on my Twitter, but thought it might be nice to upload them here as well! Since these are pretty long, I'm repeating the questions for each seiyuu so you don't have to scroll back up and read them each time. Of course, the questions are the same for everyone!

- These interviews are located inside of the 1st Live pamphlet (a booklet full of seiyuu pictures and interviews that was sold at the live show), so instead of transcribed spoken interviews or videos, they're written responses from the seiyuu. Naturally, I kept all of the punctuation the same, so all of the ellipses and multiple exclamation points, etc. are just as the seiyuu wrote them!

- I've done my best to keep the terminology as streamlined as possible! "IDOLiSH7" (in quotes) refers to the series as a whole, while IDOLiSH7 (without quotes) refers to the unit on its own. Every instance of i7 is アイナナ (Ainana) in the original text! On the same note, the official name of the live is "アイドリッシュセブン1st LIVE Road To Infinity," so the seiyuu switch between using "1st LIVE" and 初ライブ (first live). I've tried to keep that consistent with the way they used it as well!

- To keep everything consistent, I'm using the official romanizations for the names of both the characters and the seiyuu.

1. Iori is sometimes referred to as a perfect idol (or perfect high school student), and in canon, he refers to himself as the "so-called perfect idol/high school student" on a couple of occasions. This is the same term! Of course, Masuda saying that he wants to conduct himself like an assistant also refers to the role Iori plays in the story (he specifically says アシスタント, ashisutanto, or assistant).

2. "Mongen" is short for MONSTER GENERATiON. Of course, Yamato's outfit is sleeveless and shows off both his arms and chest, so Shirai's worries make total sense.

3. Here we go: It's the dreaded "これからもよろしくお願い致します," which means about 20 different things depending on context, and generally isn't able to be translated directly into English. In this situation, it's more or less a polite/formal way of saying "I'll be in your care" AND "Please continue supporting us" AND "I'll continue to do my best." Which is impossible to get across all at once, so I adjusted it a little for each person who used it.

4. ADR stands for Automated Dialog Replacement, and usually refers to the added or redubbed dialogue added after the original recording has been done. In this case, he's specifically talking about dubbing for the anime as a whole, since the same dialogue was already recorded for the game. It's アフレコ, short for "after recording," in Japanese!

5. Live shows and album releases are often promoted by truck advertisement in Japan. Basically, trucks with big promotional images drive around and play music from the artist or group to catch everyone's attention. KENN is combining that idea with caravan trucks that open up into stages, in which mini concerts can be performed. Searching "ライブ トラック" on Google will bring up images of both!

6. Japanese has a lot of onomatopoeia that doesn't come across well in English. Literally, KENN wrote that the truck will suddenly open like "ウィィィィン" (uiiiin) and "パカッと" (pakatto, "crack/pop open"). It's super cute and definitely something Tamaki would say!

7. The pamphlet these interviews were printed in came out before the live (since it could be ordered online), so even though Abeshi couldn't directly say that he was going to play the piano during Sakura Message (which he did, and it was beautiful), it's definitely one of the things he's alluding to.

8. This is pretty self-explanatory, but "managers" refers to all of us fans, who take Tsumugi's role in the game as the manager of IDOLiSH7.

9. "Try not to laugh (for x hours)" is a segment on the long-running Japanese variety show "Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!," also known as Gaki no Tsukai or Gakitsuka. The series is famous for its "try not to laugh" segments, but the phrase 「笑ってはいけない」is also used for Youtube videos that employ the challenge, etc. Of course, he chose 17 hours for i7!

10. I'm not entirely sure what Waccha means by collabing with the idols, but I'm guessing that he's referring to holograms/animated 3D models.

11. The "oldest group" isn't referring to Yuki and Momo, though they are the oldest of the main characters - Shinnosuke Tachibana is 40 and Soichiro Hoshi is 46 (yes, really), so they're the oldest seiyuu in the group, too! He actually didn't say "like everyone else," but the context is implied since he referenced them being the oldest, so I added it in to make everything flow a little more smoothly.

Thanks for reading! ♡
