Translation testimonials

Hello! This is a testimonial page for Keru's (Kelly's) translations.

Whether you've commissioned me or seen my other works such as my public manga summaries or clipped translation content, I'd love to hear your experience working with me or your thoughts about my work.

Thank you very much!

Keru is the backbone of Given fandom translating summaries.

Keru has been many of the ENG Given twitter fandom’s first source of translation for new content. I look forward to both the translation of the manga text and the cultural context that Keru adds for clarity and understanding. She is committed and goes out of her way to get translations to us.

Coming from a translation major, it's very clear to me that Keru-san not only translates but also conveys the feelings very well. She gives a lot of importance to explaining little details that help the audience grasp the meaning even better, and she does it as accurately and naturally as possible. I can picture the manga pages through her carefully selected words. I'm very thankful for her voluntary work!

I’ve read Keru’s translation for a while now and I am so thankful to her because japanese is so different from spanish which is my mother tongue. It was not only her translations with the words and phrases, it was Keru’s appreciation and interpretation which help me to understand the true meaning. Also, it was the use of simple examples and her responses were quick. Keru was always able to adapt to the time difference and was sincerely dedicated so I don’t doubt of her skills and her commitment to work.

Thanks to Keru's translations I could understand things I wouldn't since I'm not fluent in Japanese. Her translations are not only accurate but are easy to understand and doesn't seems weird like some others you can see sometimes.

My english isn't that good but whenever i listen to keru spaces or read her summerys she always use easy words to understand. When there's a hard Japanese word to effectively translate it meaning she would make sure to explain it! she respect the author and the copy rights and before starting any summary she make sure to write that we should make sure to support the author of we can. she's a lovely person and i was lucky to find her account!

I am a translator myself and I find Keru-san's attention to nuance and her meticulous choice of words commendable. Her translations show not only impressive proficiency in the way she parses words, phrases or sentences with confident clarity, but also offer contextual/cultural insight into the meaning, which is greatly appreciated.

Keru's work is simply beautiful. Her translations are perfect and she also gives details about the cultural part that we as readers from another country do not quite understand. Thanks to her work we can appreciate details that we would otherwise miss and she is always the first person to keep an eye on manga updates to make it easier for other fans to keep up with it too.

I have only know part of her work thanks to Given translations. And how brilliant those are! We don’t even see the panels but it’s well enough with the translation she does, because of how good she gets what’s going on and how to tell it trough narrative. She takes her time to explain minimal details so you get to the point successfully.
I trust her work because is passionate, well-done and honest. She has a connection with what she’s doing, she is compromised with it and enjoys the process.

Keru’s translations are just so good! As someone who is bilingual I know that different words can have different impact/meaning when directly translated and what I love about her translations is that she does it in a way that keeps that original meaning/impact and still makes a lot of sense when translated. Wether it’s by looking for other words with the same meaning or simply just going the extra mile to explain the meaning of the word or phrase. You can tell she really puts in the work and has the talent for it. Overall just love the way she translates!!

Keru's amazing!

As someone whose native language isn't english, i can confirm that keru's work is the best. Not only she translates the dialogues, but she explains the situation and some phrases that may have different meanings and other details. She's very passionate about what she does and she shows it! She's always my #1 source when it comes to translations

Keru-san is the kindest, most pure-hearted and joyful person

I came across keru-san's translations when I got into given and they are all so well translated, she doesn't only translate the text but she also beautifully describes the scenes and the context and what the translations could mean in English if a word has more than one meaning, not only the words but cultural contexts that fans/people might not understand well. She is the kindest person, whenever she comes up on my timeline she is always spreading good vibes, her presence is very joyful.

I am so thankful for Keru's work; always on time translations, easy to follow and fully conveying the emotions and happenings of each chapter while respecting the original creator's work. They are the reason I still have my twitter account. Engaging content and a meticulous, hard-working translator. Thank you Keru!

Keru is the reason why I'm still active in the Given fandom. As someone who isn't much into incomplete works because i only trust the official translations, I tend to wait forever for the chapters to come out. But Keru and her consistent efforts in providing the best accurate translations has me hooked to the manga. Now i eagerly wait every two months to read the new chapter because of her. I'm aware how hard translating can be and I'm only so glad that we have her. A literal gem. Our fandom wouldnt be the same without her.

Love the translations

Thanks a lot Keru ! You express the emotions and details and the feelings that a person would feel while reading the chapter so accurately and they add such a magical touch and stay in the memory as an impression forever! 🌺🌸💫

TL testimonial for keru ♥︎

When I started being into given i was sad since I had to wait a while until it was translated into my native language but I came across Keru’s translations which I found were adapted really well to the language (English) while keeping the original expressions and feeling from the author in Japanese, i really liked that since some translations are too literal and cannot be understood properly

I really love keru’s translations and I hope people like her, who take the time to translate while giving the same feeling that the og author portrayed, have better opportunities at being recognized so that translations have a better quality and are enjoyable for the readers

Keru is a fantastic translator. She expertly captures the nuance of the text while also preserving the intent of the author. She even adds notes explaining the multi-level meanings of kanji for when the author may have intended a double meaning. She is incredibly detailed and thoughtful with her work. English-speaking fans of Given are very lucky for her work!

Someone who committed to manga

I know I can always look forward to Keru's translations when a new Given chapter comes out! Her work always captivates what the story is saying in a collected and organized manner. Keru is passionate about her work and it is evident in the way she presents it. Her translations are always incredibly well written and allow the reader to perfectly visualize the story with only her words!

I enjoy reading Keru’s Given chapter translations as and when they are released. Not only are her translations spot on, but she clearly has such a passion for, and enjoys, providing this service to fellow fans on Twitter. As someone else has mentioned, she also provides cultural context and other additional info for audiences to better interpret the media.

I love you, keru-san ~

I've been following Keru-san especially given translation for a while now. They are sooo great, not only it so easy to follow (as i'm not a native english speaker) but also it conveyed the feelings really well. It carried so much feelings, i often found myself crying while reading it. Thanks to Keru-san, you are the best

keru is so much more than a translator! her love for the series she translates and the bond she draws with her fans is second to none. i have been following keru's translations of given since early 2020, and always look forward to the updates and conversations happening under keru's twitter threads. she has really made a place for herself in the given community with the high quality of her work. the emotions, the feelings, the passion have all been conveyed so deeply through her work. i can tell that she has a passion for translating and is so talented in doing so. with her kind and compassionate personality on top of all the talent, she definitely is a diamond in the rough.

i love you keru!

I've known Keru for a long time and have commissioned her for work on song lyrics, mobile game content, and drama CD tracks. The quality of her translations is excellent thanks to her wonderful writing and knowledge of Japanese culture, but she's also very professional, and has always been communicative and trustworthy. When she's unfamiliar with a source material, she takes the time to research it and ask questions to ensure that her clients are satisfied. If anyone is considering commissioning her, you won't be disappointed.

Another thing that stands out is that she's always respectful of the original creators. She's careful to adhere to copyright rules by not posting images from manga and she encourages people to purchase or support the original work. Her passion for translating and her generosity towards fans are unmatched, so I'm excited that she's being recognized for it. Thank you, Keru!

Keru has been phenomenal at translating the Given manga when they come out and I look forward to them every time! I love the description and the additional context that Keru adds in which give me a better experience than if I were to just translate them on my own using google translate.

Honestly, Keri’s transcriptions meanings everything to me. Due to the place where I lived (Colombia), the only way that we can have access to material, for example related with Given, is because of her amazing work and commitment with the fans. She also transmit her passion and thoughts, which make it more genuine.

The Pure Definition of Keeping a Fandom Together

Keru has one of the purest souls I have ever gotten the chance to find on social media. The way they write up reviews for a series that has meant so much to them is inexplicable as the amount of heart and soul put into each sentence always overflows beyond the character limit.

Keru also has a very gentle, nice and professional way of replying to their followers. I have never seen a bad tempered reply from them.

I am really glad I got to find them online chapters ago and wish them the best on their personal life and projects. Thank you for being you!

(Sorry if using they/them might sound confusing or if they're not the pronouns I should have used!)

Thankful

As a person and a huge fan, I’m thankful for each and every time Keru(Kelly) translated a new raw chapter. She goes above and beyond. Keru shows her love and dedication from the moment she does her Twitter spaces, she talks to us in English and proceeds to switch to Japanese. I’m a bilingual person (fluent in both English and Spanish) so I know you have to be fluent in both languages to go back and forward like it’s nothing. Any way going back to her twitter spaces, she’d get the physical copy of the Manga magazine and once upon finding the chapter she would translate the raw content. Keru would gracefully read Japanese, with emotion, and then she would immediately read it back in English. She would also explain certain Japanese characters, given the fact that it would depend on the context what a phrase or character would mean. After her Live session, she would do a more proper translation and continue to post on a twitter thread. I, myself, and I’m sure along many other fans are very thankful for Keru and her work. The dedication she has put into this manga and the amount of time given, time and time again she shows her love as a translator and one can see that she enjoys it. Thank you once again Keru! You’re are simply the best and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you!

I've been following Keru's Given translations for a while and they are truly wonderful. She translates very quickly without sacrificing quality or understanding for her readers. In addition, she's great at conveying small but important nuances in the characters' speech or inner monologues that non-native Japanese speakers may not pick up on, which allows us to better understand the characters' feelings and intentions. It's these little details that make her translations superior.

Keru’s translations have been exceptional. Not only does she do incredible work, but her overall excitement and passion for what she does really gets me excited as well. I’m so happy to have followed and experienced Given together with her. It’s the end of an era but I will always follow Keru and see what she’s upto!
